Miami, FL, USA (December 9, 2023) - As the buzz for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk continues to build, undefeated Top Heavyweight Prospect Richard Torrez Jr believes he could be the perfect sparring partner for the Lineal Champ.

Torrez, an Olympic silver medalist, considers his style and stature comparable to Usyk, presenting himself as an ideal practice opponent for Fury. The 22-year-old's next bout against Curtis Harper is tonight (Saturday December 9th) at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, just outside Miami.

"I would love to be a part of Fury's camp," Torrez told Sky Sports after securing his seventh consecutive knockout victory. "If Tyson Fury invites me, I'm more than ready to come and spar with him. I believe my style could be beneficial for him."

Having admired Fury since his amateur days, Torrez cherishes a message from the reigning heavyweight champion on social media. "It was incredible," Torrez reminisced. "Fury reached out to me when I was just starting out. His acknowledgment meant the world to me. He was already a heavyweight champ, and him showing support to a rookie like me was amazing."

Acknowledging the differences in their boxing approaches, Torrez recognizes his physical similarities to Usyk, considering his smaller stature and southpaw style. "I don't have Fury's physical attributes or fight style," Torrez admitted. "But I admire Fury's charisma. He has established himself as the people's champion, and I respect that."

Torrez remains focused on his quest in the professional ranks, eyeing potential matchups, including one against Britain's Joe Joyce, expressing a lingering desire for a professional showdown. "I have no qualms against anyone, but a fight with Joyce is something I've had my eye on," he emphasized. "Yet, I'm open to facing anyone. If you want to step in the ring with me, I'll be ready."

Despite the activity surrounding his bout with Curtis Harper, Torrez remains steadfast in his preparation. "Harper might have some confidence," Torrez acknowledged. "But once he faces me, I'll surpass his expectations. I aim to exhibit what I bring to the table, and I'm excited to showcase my capabilities."
