Rosenberg, TX, USA (October 14, 2023) - Richard Torrez Jr. continues to impress with his lightning-fast performances in the ring. The 2020 Olympic Silver medalist for the U.S. upheld his perfect knockout-to-win ratio with a second-round stoppage of Tyrrell Anthony Herndon. The pivotal moment came just one minute into the second round, with Torrez flooring Herndon. He then launched an unstoppable attack, ultimately concluding the bout at 1:26 of the second round.
Tyrrell Anthony Herndon initially showed enthusiasm for making it a competitive fight, but his plans took a drastic turn once he experienced Torrez's power. The San Antonio native was pushed to the ropes by a series of jabs from Torrez, setting up a powerful straight left hand down the middle.
That very straight left hand resulted in the only knockdown of the fight. It was a perfectly timed shot that triggered a fierce combination, sending Herndon (21-5, 14KOs) into the ropes and ultimately down to the canvas. Although the Texan managed to beat the count, a relentless onslaught of power punches left the referee with no choice but to stop the fight, as Herndon was on his feet but unable to defend himself.
Richard Torrez Jr. (7-0, 7KOs) has yet to be pushed beyond the third round in his professional career. He maintains his unblemished record this year, with all of his wins coming by way of knockout. Incredibly, the total time spent in the ring for his three fights in 2023 amounts to less than ten minutes.
