Glendale, AZ, USA - Rising American heavyweight Richard Torrez 11-0 (10 KOs) claimed another victory in a fight filled with drama, winning by disqualification over Joey Dawejko on Saturday night. The co-main event, which promoted Torrez as the new American heavyweight hope following Jared Anderson's loss to Martin Bakole, showcased Torrez’s growing composure and control in the ring.

Richard Torrez Jr. was too much for Joey Dawejko who was disqualified for excessive loss of his mouthpiece.

The first three rounds followed a familiar pattern, with Torrez steadily applying pressure behind a stiff right jab and landing strong body shots. While Dawejko showed solid defense, his offense was largely ineffective, with few meaningful counters to shift momentum. Torrez dominated the opening rounds, his sharp combinations frequently finding their mark while Dawejko struggled to launch significant attacks.

Controversy emerged in the fourth round, as Dawejko’s mouthpiece repeatedly fell out, drawing boos from the crowd and a two deductions from the referee. Despite Dawejko landing a few decent right hands, Torrez remained in control, increasing his output and forcing Dawejko on the defensive. The crowd became increasingly frustrated, and when Dawejko's mouthpiece came out for the fourth time, the referee warned him of a potential disqualification.

By the fifth round, Dawejko was bloodied, and Torrez continued to press the action, attacking both the head and body with crisp combinations. Once again, Dawejko’s mouthpiece fell out, forcing the referee to stop the fight and disqualify Dawejko, giving Torrez the win in what had been a one-sided contest up to that point.

The disqualification sealed Torrez’s 11th straight victory, further solidifying his standing as a rising star in the heavyweight division. With his Olympic pedigree and solid chin on display, Torrez’s future looks bright, even though the disqualification outcome left some fans wanting a more conclusive finish. However, Torrez’s ability to remain composed under frustrating circumstances only added to his reputation as a fighter to watch.
