Heavyweight Boxing
Flint, MI, USA - Rising heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor, a Brooklyn native with an impressive amateur pedigree, has signed with Salita Promotions and will make his debut under their banner on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan. The event will air live on DAZN as part of the "Big Time Boxing USA" series, Salita Promotions’ flagship developmental platform.
Taylor (4-0, 2 KOs), a 28-year-old southpaw, will join an already stacked card featuring top prospects such as Ardreal “Bossman” Holmes Jr., Joey Spencer, Da’Velle “Hitman 2.0” Smith, and Leon Lawson III. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online or at the Dort Financial Center Box Office.
Standing at 6-foot-4, Taylor is poised to carry forward Brooklyn’s storied heavyweight tradition, which has produced icons like Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, Shannon Briggs, and Floyd Patterson. Trained by Benny Roman and managed by Keith Sullivan, Taylor credits his boxing journey to the mentorship of the Cops & Kids Boxing Club in Brooklyn, where he discovered the sport at the age of 20.
Taylor’s amateur career was marked by a record of 60 wins and 11 losses, including two New York Golden Gloves titles and multiple runner-up finishes at the USA National Championships. In 2020, he came heartbreakingly close to securing a spot on the U.S. Olympic team for Tokyo, falling short at the team trials in Louisiana.
Promoter Dmitriy Salita expressed his confidence in Taylor’s potential, noting the heavyweight’s combination of skill, athleticism, and determination.
“I’ve been very impressed with Pryce both in the amateurs and in his first four professional fights,” said Salita, “He has all the tools to become the next great American heavyweight champion, and we’re excited to guide him on this journey.”
Taylor, who credits his basketball background for his footwork and agility, is eager to make an impact in the professional ranks.
“I’m thrilled to sign with Salita Promotions,” Taylor said. “My team and I reviewed several offers, and we believe this is the best opportunity for me. Dmitriy understands what it takes to climb to the top, and I’m looking forward to fighting on big shows and earning my place in the main event spotlight.”
Salita Promotions’ "Big Time Boxing USA" series has quickly become a breeding ground for the sport’s future stars, and Taylor is set to shine on this platform. Sullivan, Taylor’s manager, believes this partnership marks the start of something special.
“Dmitriy and his team made it clear they believe in Pryce’s talent and potential,” said Sullivan. “I’m confident this collaboration will take Pryce’s career to great heights.”
Taylor has already gained invaluable experience working with some of the top heavyweights in the sport, including Jared Anderson, Filip Hrgovic, Jarrell Miller, Otto Wallin, and Brandon Glanton. These experiences have honed his skills and prepared him for the challenges ahead in the professional ranks.
With his combination of athleticism, skill, and relentless drive, Pryce Taylor is ready to make his mark. Fans can catch his next step toward the heavyweight spotlight on Dec. 12 in Flint, Michigan, as he continues to rise in a division eager for new talent.
As the "Big Time Boxing USA" series expands its reach, Taylor’s story will serve as a testament to Brooklyn’s enduring legacy in the heavyweight division and a promising glimpse into the future of boxing.
