Heavyweight Boxing
Auckland, New Zealand (November 29, 2023) - Joseph Parker's promoter, David Higgins, believes his fighter possesses the speed and boxing prowess required to secure a spectacular knockout victory over Deontay Wilder in their upcoming heavyweight bout in Saudi Arabia. Parker, confirmed as Wilder's next opponent on December 23, will join a massive top heavyweight card that also includes Anthony Joshua against Otto Wallin.
Higgins emphasized Parker's explosive power demonstrated in his recent fight, a ruthless stoppage win against Simon Kean. "It was a fantastic performance by Joseph Parker," Higgins stated to Sky Sports. "He showed he was explosive and showed great power. Simon Kean was a big guy, and Joseph knocked him out with an uppercut."
Higgins also highlighted Parker's momentum, getting three victories this year and eyeing a fourth against Wilder in Saudi Arabia. Despite Wilder's reputation as a devastating puncher, Higgins stressed Parker's boxing skills and speed as key factors in this showdown.
"Joseph has got over 20 knockouts on his resume. Wilder has got a huge punch, one of the biggest in history, but Joseph does have advantages. He's the better boxer, he's quicker," Higgins remarked. "It's a winnable fight for Joseph Parker if he brings his A-game."
Reflecting on Parker's ambitions, Higgins discussed the potential outcomes of a victory over Wilder, suggesting it could position Parker for significant opportunities in the top heavyweight division, including a potential rematch with Anthony Joshua or a shot at a world title in 2024.
