Heavyweight Boxing
Birmingham, UK (January 16, 2024) - Joe Joyce is gearing up for a return to the boxing ring on March 16, aiming to rebuild his position in the heavyweight division. The comeback, however, comes after a challenging 2023, marked by unexpected setbacks.
Starting the year as the WBO mandatory challenger and fresh off a career-best stoppage victory over Joseph Parker, 'The Juggernaut' faced a stumbling block in April when he encountered Zhilei Zhang. The Chinese southpaw bewildered Joyce, causing extensive damage to his eye and ultimately securing a stoppage. Undeterred, Joyce engaged in an immediate rematch with Zhang in September, only to suffer a more devastating outcome—being floored by a powerful right hand in the third round.
Reports reveal that the 38-year-old Joyce is set to initiate his comeback against Kash Ali on March 16 in Birmingham, marking a pivotal step in his journey to reclaim his standing in the heavyweight division.
Kash Ali, known for a 2019 disqualification against David Price for biting, rebounded with six consecutive victories before facing a setback in a six-round points decision against Bohdan Myronets in July 2023.
