London, UK - Delicious Orie has officially signed with Queensberry Promotions, marking the next step in his promising boxing career. The 27-year-old Olympian, who previously competed for Team GB in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will now enter the professional ranks under the guidance of legendary promoter Frank Warren and trainer Grant Smith at the Steel City Gym in Sheffield, England.
Orie, a highly decorated amateur, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the professional circuit. His accomplishments include a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and another gold at the 2023 European Games in Kraków and Małopolska. As one of Britain’s most promising heavyweight talents, his decision to turn professional was highly anticipated, and Queensberry Promotions has wasted no time in adding him to their already stacked heavyweight roster.
Speaking on his new chapter, Orie expressed his enthusiasm and confidence in the team he has assembled around him.
“I can’t wait to get this next chapter underway. I’ve put the heartbreak of Paris behind me and look back on my amateur career with pride,” Orie said. “A home Commonwealth Games where I won my first major gold and closing the European Championship as Team GB’s flag bearer with a gold medal round my neck were definitely the highlights.”
Acknowledging the support he received during his amateur career, Orie added, “I’d like to thank GB Boxing and Team GB for all their support over the past few years. I’ve teamed up with Steel City Gym, STN Sports, and Queensberry Promotions, who together I feel are the team that will take me to the top of the heavyweight division. Queensberry is the home of heavyweight boxing and has a long tradition of developing boxers the right way and building superstars. I can’t wait to get going.”
Frank Warren, one of the most influential promoters in boxing, sees immense potential in Orie. Queensberry Promotions already boasts an impressive lineup of heavyweight talent, including Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois, Moses Itauma, Lawrence Okolie, and Joe Joyce. Warren believes that Orie has the skills and marketability to become a major force in the heavyweight division.
“This is yet another signature heavyweight signing for us at Queensberry, and I am delighted to welcome Delicious to the team,” Warren stated. “Delicious has got everything stacked to make himself a major success as a professional heavyweight. He is skillful, powerful, popular, and charismatic, and I am certain the British public will get behind him in a big way as he makes his way in the sport.”
Warren also outlined the promotional strategy for Orie, emphasizing a measured and structured approach to his professional development. “We have got incredible depth in the heavyweight division here at Queensberry, but as always, we develop each fighter as an individual. Delicious will be given the right fights at the right time to progress him towards major title contention. I am very much looking forward to getting him started and cannot wait to see Delicious in action.”
Orie’s decision to sign with Queensberry Promotions is a strategic move designed to provide him with the best opportunities in the division. Speaking to DAZN News, Orie expressed confidence in his new team and their plans for his career.
“They've got a very good game plan and strategy now,” Orie said. “I feel like I can really excel and progress with Queensberry. With their track record and how they build their fighters, I do believe we can go all the way to the top together and have massive fights at the end of it.”
Orie’s transition to the professional ranks comes after an accomplished amateur career, where he compiled a record of 29-9, including two knockouts. His final amateur bout saw him suffer a controversial first-round loss to Armenia’s Davit Chaloyan at the Paris Olympics, which ultimately solidified his decision to turn professional.
Queensberry Promotions is now working on securing the date, venue, and opponent for Orie’s professional debut, which could take place later this year. Given his pedigree and the promotional backing of Frank Warren, Orie’s early career fights will likely be showcased on high-profile Queensberry fight cards, ensuring he gains exposure and momentum as he transitions into the paid ranks.
